SAILR develops cross-border cooperation and learning relationships in Europe and beyond.
Bridges of Silence – German-Czech Encounters
Our German-Czech project “Bridges of Silence” has been approved for funding and is now in preparation. Together with the Amitayus Centre in Dippoldiswalde and Kwan Um Zen in Děč, Czechia, we will create opportunities for Buddhist practice and mutual understanding across borders.
Five encounter days are planned in 2027. Meditation, mindfulness, listening, meaningful dialogue and cooperation will be at the heart of the project. A total of 30 places is available for people from Germany and Czechia. Dates and participation details will be announced once the planning is complete.
Funding: Co-funded by the European Union under Interreg Saxony–Czechia 2021–2027, through the Euroregion Elbe/Labe Small Projects Fund.
European cooperation
A current focus lies on Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland. Social circus, hip-hop, cultural education and dialogue create practical opportunities to meet, learn from one another and develop projects together.
Engaged Buddhism and Asia
SAILR is building relationships with monasteries, educational initiatives and networks in Thailand and other parts of Asia. An important reference point is the International Network of Engaged Buddhists (INEB).
The focus is on observation and learning, long-term network building, and translating concepts such as compassion, interdependence and mindfulness into accessible educational language.
Relationships before project logic
International cooperation should extend beyond individual funding periods. Sustainable relationships provide the foundation for mutual learning, new methods and future joint projects.
